Khaatoon : سریال خاتون : "Khatoon" is an Iranian television series produced in 2021, directed by Tina Pakravan. The series falls within the historical romantic genre and is set during the occupation of Iran in World War II. The cast includes Negar Javaherian, Ashkan Khatibi, Mersaie Moghloyan, Mehran Modiri, Babak Hamidian, Mahtab Keramati, Reza Behboudi, and Shabnam Moghaddami. The series premiered exclusively on Namava on August 9, 2021, with the continuation of the first season starting on December 27, 2021. The composer for the series is Keyhan Kalhor.
The storyline of "Khatoon" revolves around a woman named Khatoon, belonging to the Bakhtiari tribe, who marries Shervazad, a military officer during the reign of Reza Shah. However, due to the events of World War II, despite Iran's declaration of neutrality, the northern part of Iran is occupied by the Soviet Union, and the southern part is occupied by Britain. Khatoon, facing various political reasons, is repeatedly arrested, and Shervazad, under the pressure of Commissioner Rajabf, is forced to divorce Khatoon and hand her over to the Soviet army. Khatoon manages to escape from Gilan with the help of a man named Reza Fakhar and flees to Tehran.
