Yousofe Payambar : یوسف پیامبر : "Prophet Joseph" is an Iranian television series based on the life of the Prophet Joseph as narrated in the Quran and other Islamic sources. Written and directed by Farajollah Salahshoor, this 45-episode series aired on Channel 1 from June 27, 2008, to May 1, 2009. It has been rebroadcast multiple times on iFilm. The series stars Mostafa Zamani, Katayoun Riahi, Mahmoud Pakniat, and Jafar Dehghan.
Production and Challenges
Farajollah Salahshoor completed the screenplay for "Prophet Joseph" by 2003. Production began in July 2003, initially planned for 40 episodes. However, budget constraints delayed the project, and after a three-month hiatus, pre-production resumed in the Sacred Defense City. Filming started in May 2004 but faced several interruptions due to financial issues, finally wrapping up in April 2007.
Plot Summary
The series begins with Jacob calling the Israelites to monotheism, warning against the worship of various gods. God grants Jacob a son, Joseph, destined to be the next prophet. Joseph, known for his extraordinary beauty, dreams of the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing to him. Jacob advises Joseph to keep this dream a secret from his brothers, who are jealous of their father's affection for Joseph.
