Oxidan | اکسیدان
Oxidan : اکسیدان (فیلم) : "Oxidan" is a film directed and written by Hamed Mohammadi, produced by Manouchehr Mohammadi in 2016.
Plot Summary
The story centers around Negar (played by Linda Kiani), the fiancée of Aslan (Javad Ezzati), who dreams of living abroad. Without Aslan's permission and illegally, she travels outside the country. Aslan then looks for a way to go to Europe to bring back his fiancée, engaging in bizarre activities to obtain a visa from a European country.
Controversies
"Oxidan" faced controversy due to its comedic treatment of the church and priests, as well as its discussion on transsexuals and homosexuals. The film's content led to backlash, with 17 members of the Iranian parliament expressing their objections to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance through a letter. They complained about the film's screening and demanded that "Oxidan" and another film, "Atomic Heart Mother," be banned immediately. They argued that these films insulted divine religions and sowed discord.
These controversies highlight the challenges faced by filmmakers in addressing sensitive subjects within the constraints of cultural and legal frameworks in Iran.
